Anderson" Subject: Gary's New Album I've been watching NuWorld for news about his progress on the new album. A couple months ago he mentioned on the site (or maybe it was somewhere else??) that he was going for a more "electronic sound" to eliminate some of what he called the "cliche guitar parts" on 'Pure'. I didn't personally feel they were cliche at all, but was still excited about his intentions. What he described was basically a much more atmospheric ('Dance'-ish...as in the 1981 album) sound. However, more recently on NuWorld he discussed making the new album more playable for live shows. These two directions seem to contradict one-another considering atmospheric stuff requires extensive production and studio capabilities to create. I'm not declaring a preference for either style, but I'm still confused about where he's going. Any ideas?? -Mark Anderson _________________________________________________________________ Join the world’s largest e-mail service with MSN Hotmail. http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 8 Jan 2002 14:37:33 GMT From: dr13@one.net Subject: What would you like to see on a Numan DVD? As many of us know Gary purchased DVD authoring software last year. I hope that this means that he will be producing his own DVDs, to eventually be released through NuWorld or some other channels. It is my hope that since he puts so much care into the production of his CDs that the same care will carry over onto his DVD releases. Here is my wish list for a Numan DVD: 1. Region 0, so it can be played on ANY DVD player worldwide. (Region 1 is USA/Canada - Region 2 is UK) 2. Creative menus. By this I mean great looking graphics, perhaps a little animation, maybe even exclusive DVD instrumental background music. The graphics theme of the NuWorld web site could be continued here. A fine example of this is the new live DVD by The Psychedelic Furs. You can see that LOTS of creativity & care was put into the Furs DVD. 3. A DVD tour of Alien studios hosted by Gary. Who wouldn't want to see where it all comes together. I prefer actual video footage, but a "slide show" format would be okay -just add audio commentary by Gary. Oh, I'd like to "meet" all his pets too. :) 4. Live concert of the current touring band. I seem to recall that some of his gigs have been filmed. Any "behind the scenes" footage would be cool! I saw Gemma (and Tony Webb) with a digital camera at the 2001 Cincinnati show, so it looks like Team Numan may already be on top of this. 5. The BBC sessions on the John Peel show would be a most welcome extra to the Numan DVD. Let's hope that they were recorded. If no video is available, how about the audio? Okay, that's enough for me. How about you? What would you like to see on a Numan DVD? Oh if anyone on this list want to pass this "wish list" onto Tony Webb, PLEASE do so. :) ------------------------------------------- This message was sent using Us.Net Webmail. ------------ http://www.us.net ------------ ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 8 Jan 2002 10:01:56 -0600 (CST) From: machman@netdirect.net Subject: not for sell hey there, AFEnet went to a login after several attacks from hackers I believe. I have been going to that site for a few years now, and registered recenyl when the switch was made, and have not noticed ANY indication that my info has been sold. That being said, if you are still uncomfortable, go to Numan's own site at www.numan.co.uk Also from there go to his links page, and you will find LOTS of Numan wed sites.
