LOL I ran across this info. http://www.algonet.se/~elegans/mono/mhis.html Apparently, someone from Mean Street ended up in Monochrome Set for a brief period of time, as well as another band, whose name escapes me. I had a question for all Numan fans. If you were a true Numan fan who really couldn't afford to purchase one of his CD's for, say, $12.95, but you had access to download the entire catalog of numan hits, what would you do?. I already know Gary's feelings about MP3's. He has even posted on his website a huge block of text stating clearly that he is against anyone who illegally downloads his music. I writing this because I have noticed a great amount of pro corporate sponsorship on the list. I know Gary has to make his money, but does Gary have to stifle the voice of fans that cannot see him in concerts, or purchase his CD's? This ethical issue of what's right and wrong on the part of a Numan fan is plain stupidity. If I find a complete Numan CD online to download for free, of course im getting it. As a matter of fact, lately all I hear is 'look what I downloaded today'!!...not..'Look what I bought at Virgin megastore for only $15.99. I try to support Gary in different ways, but have noticed that he tries to impose his view on his fans. I guess this is good and bad, depends on ones perspective. But I still believe this is the digital age where ones music is created for 'everyone.even the kid that can't afford the CD. True, I wasn't aware of the royalty situation with the record clubs (I usually buy all my discs used anyway), but here's how I look at it all: Suppose Gary gives up most or all royalties on maybe a few hundred copies of "Alternative Anthology" sold through Columbia House, banking on the notion that some or most of those buyers will like the music enough to go out to those local or mall CD stores and purchase one or several MORE Numan discs, thus garnering for Gary royalties that he would have otherwise never tapped into. I don't think that's too preposterous a scenario to imagine. I tend to think that this one disc or two available through the record clubs can only help Gary, via more exposure, and isn't that what most of us have been complaining about for years; Gary's lack of exposure (at least in the States)? Rod stated that Down In The Park (Columbia does have it listed as Down In The Dark. Their mistake) is all rare versions. Does this mean the studio tracks are remixed or different in some way and not just culled from and identical to the original album tracks? I'd like to know before I spend good money on it.
