Smash Hits, most likely - they referred to Gary as Gazza from about 1982, probably even before. I think it's also from there that Wacko Jacko, Mozza, Macca (Paul McCartney), and no doubt several others got nick-names in the British press. It's sort of an extention of schoolground nick-names they always used, I suppose. anti -- Before you judge someone, try walking a mile in their shoes. After that, it doesn't matter - they are a mile away and you have their shoes. Not as much as Metal Rhythm, which I still feel is Numan's finest mid-period album, but Outland always rocked for me. From Russia Infected is one of my favourite songs - so different from anything else he had ever done. The Berserker image, I agree a bit that it didn't always work. He looked great in the album photo-shoots, where his make-up and hair were really well done and so BLUE, but in live photos and on TV it somehow didn't look the same - the hair wasn't as blue and the make-up didn't look quite as well done. I think it was a good image for a photo shoot, especially considering when Berserker was done - 1984 - when Dead Or Alive, Culture Club, Marilyn et al were popular I think he needed a look that was really strong and bizarre to stand out amongst those people. And getting your hair that blue is difficult - I have tried :> Anti -- Before you judge someone, try walking a mile in their shoes. There is no malice behind it. Gary (not Gaz or Gazza) > Just curious...what is the origin/meaning of Gaz, or Gazza. For example Sharon often gets shortened to Shaz. It is no slight on the person, it is usually done affectionately. Hope this clarifies. Anyone have an idea what "more roche five than pain" from My Shadow In Vain is supposed to mean? 2. Where can one find Gary's revised version of "Friends" that he played live on the Exile tour, if it's even available on CD? Is it just my bad memory, or does the song Pure sounds similar to that new version of "Friends"? (ok, so that's three things...)
