Anderson" Subject: bb "I do not think that way at all. Beggars were under no commitment to have the re-releases remastered. They have gone above and beyond with their releases. From a simple business stand point tho, you can not sink your money into something that very well stands the chance of NOT returning your money, let alone make a profit. That is all. As for them not supporting Gary many years ago, that is also the way most record lables work. New acts get the most push and financial support. Existing acts, especially those that are considered as established, do not get as much, as it is believed that they will not benefit as much from the support. True or not, that is the way it is looked at most of the time. This has been explained to me more than once by record company employees. My understanding of it may not be perfect, but Steve Webbon may be able to shine some more light on this subject." -Yeah, my comments on the record label were a bit harsh and short-sighted. As any good Ayn Rand reading objectivist, I should know better than to inject motives other than profit into a corporation. I guess my desire to see both of those albums on CD got the better of my rationality. Touche... -Mark _________________________________________________________________ Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 22 Mar 2002 22:35:11 -0000 From: "Vickers" Subject: Tech Hell I think it is a great shame that Gary has had so much of what Mad magazine called 'The Revolt of the Machines'. We have had quite a bit in our house. Gary will write what he wants to write, when he is ready to write it, how he wants to write it, and play/produce with whoever he wants. Then it will be released, and I and all of you (I hope) will go out and buy it. And it will be good. And some people will say it is better than Pure, which they thought was too Goth, and some will say it is not as good as 'Machine and Soul', because that was too funky/derivative/samey/Kipperish/ whatever, and some will say Gary needs to go back to 1979 or 1977 or 1981 or whenever, and we'll all argue about the quality of the sound/ production/drum loops/guitar work/lyrics/artwork/ fonts/marketing/whatever. BUT IT WILL BE GOOD. So let's leave it to Gary. Who knows, perhaps Steve has uncovered another previously unreleased track... Steve: Please make these last two re-issues available through mail order at least!! Take care, Jeff Tolva (The Machman) ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 23 Mar 2002 10:56:00 EST From: jtolva@aol.com Subject: Transmissions, etc. Hello all, Does anyone have Shaun Dubhead's awesome compilations called "Transmissions"? I've got Transmissions #4 & #5, and I can't seems to track Shaun down to see if he'll make Transmissions #1, #2 & #3 for me. I'd love to trade someone for the first three in the series, if I can't get him to make me some originals. I've got lots to trade as well, if anyone wants to make a trade. I've got a fair amount of bootleg videos (NTSC format) and tapes. Some months back, I stepped into the new century...I can even burn CD-Rs now ;-) Now, if I can only burn DVDs... Send me your list(s), and I'll send you mine.
