RIP, New Entry @ No.29... Hello everyone!!! Gary Numan's RIP single has just made it into UK Top 30, @ No.29 !!! Excellent!!! Gary Numan back in UK Top 30 for the first time, since 1986, not includng the Cars remixes in 1987 & 1996. His last Top 30 hits were both in 1986 with This Is Love (#28), and I Can't Stop (#27). Wonder if it'll be enough to merit a TOTP's appearance??? Rik Waller was on last week's show with a new entry @ No.25, so it could be possible I suppose... I was told a while back that a lot of Digesters had gone onto AFENet. The Digest suits me, though. It comes to me, rather than me having to log in every day.. But the content invariably gets thinner, if less people are subscribing. I expect Joey/Dave will know... +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ A few days ago, people were going on about Gary saying one thing and then saying the opposite, generally being inconsistent about earlier styles, etc. If you put any artist's ramblings through the microscope you get the same, to some degree at least. Most people are more positive some days than others. Sometimes you simply forget things. And Gary has had over twenty years of people telling him what THEY think. If he's inconsistent, it's because he's human. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Gary was on the 'Heaven and Earth Show' this morning. It is a pastiche of current moral issues, vaguely spiritual items, and is geared slightly towards the non-material. The only other time I have ever seen it was when I heard there was to be a feature on the Bahais in Swindon offering Tranquillity Zones as a way of helping office workers reduce stress. Gary came over as terribly nice, very reasonable, humourous, etc. He was able to explain that his latest music is the darkest he has ever written. You never know, there may be teenagers who were exposed to the programme and had their numan-awareness raised.... Anything's possible. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ AND I'VE GOT MY TICKET FOR LONDON ON SEPTEMBER 21ST. I had to miss the last weekenders.
