I believe they'll tell you it wasn't E, but Broadway Video (producers of SNL), who cut the show. All episodes have been cut down from 90 minutes to 60 for the syndication package... usually resulting in the removal of one of the musical performnaces. We all need to keep an eye out for a 90 minute rerun, which does happen once in a nu moon... but probably not on E. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 9 Jul 2002 18:53:34 US/Pacific From: dr13@one.net Subject: My Jesus > From: Derek Langsford > I still think My Jesus could have been as big as AFE if given the chance. > Oh well, > Derek I agree, it is a great song that could have been huge if only radio didn't have it's collective head up it's arse/ass. t3rry ------------------------------------------- This message was sent using Us.Net Webmail. ------------ http://www.us.net ------------ ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 09 Jul 2002 20:06:08 -0600 From: "Joey Lindstrom" Subject: Miscellaneous ramblings Still no word on whether my new DSL line will be installed by the Friday deadline. However, I placed a call to Cadvision (my old ISP) today and discovered that the Friday deadline MAY not be carved in stone. In fact, the fella I spoke to said that they'll be shutting the network down over a 3 week period. So one possible permutation is that my new ISP is not able to get the line in until next Tuesday, but the old line STAYS ACTIVE until at least then. I just don't know. :-( As for Artful Records and the Rip singles, while I agree that more copies of them should have been made, you folks do seem to be missing a fairly important point here. The point of the release (and its appearance at #29 on the UK charts) is not to promote sales either of the Rip singles or the Pure album, but rather of Artful's "Exposure" double best-of CD. Indeed, on the audio clip I heard via a link from AFENET, the BBC announcer says that that (Exposure) is where the track is taken from. No mention of Pure at all. So if that's the goal, I don't see anything really terribly wrong with the approach, 'cept for the fact that us poor slobs in Canada get hosed by hmv.co.uk who allow us to pre-order the discs and then tell us, on release day, "sorry, we're all out". Geez, what's up with that? They had to know how many copies they were being allotted - why did they take orders for more copies than that? This is the first and last time I'll ever deal with them. / From the desk of Joey Lindstrom / / Of all the nonsense that twists the world, the concept of 'altruism' / is the worst. Neil Tennant's birthday today too!! (10th July) Glad to see more Petheads also, such good taste in music........ :-) Glad to hear Artful are pressing more RIP singles (hurray, I might now stand a chance of getting meself a copy!) - but Derek could be right - too little too late. Well atleast the chances are that Artful won't make the same mistake with the next release (toes & eyes crossed!). Cheers, The Petted One (Hey, anyone here like The Tea Party? Hi. The good news is that I got an email from hmv.co.uk and they have shipped my Rip singles! They should be here in a week or so. The bad news is that I do have a Touring Principle video, however, it is obviously quite ancient and does not work very well at all. As much as I'd love to copy and trade (I'd love to see the Newman Numan video!) I'm afraid the quality just isn't there. And I think you may find that's the case with quite a few of them, if not all. BTW I don't see a problem at all with fans copying things for other fans that are not available. If you're dubbing someone a copy of the Pleasure Principle remaster, however, that's a different story. This will be confirmed tomorrow sometime. If that's the case, then there should be little or no disruption (other than a short-duration disruption caused by the changeover - there's a lot of reconfiguring to do!)
