I really enjoyed the whole radio show ambiance. Joey are you going to start up Gary Numan Radio again on the World Wide Webb??? Thanks. I'd like to, but I just don't have the time anymore. That particular production took about 2.5 hours and I was hard pressed to find that time - then it took me several more days to get the (skimpy) web page up. Man, having a REAL job, instead of my old cab-driving job, is really cutting into my free time! :-) / From the desk of Joey Lindstrom / / I made wine out of raisins so I wouldn't have to wait for it to age. / --Steven Wright ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 21 Aug 2002 19:07:31 -0600 From: "Joey Lindstrom" Subject: Gary in yet another 80's compilation This one, though, looks quite cool. It's by Rhino Records and it's a 7-disc boxed set, entitled "Like, Omigod! The 80's Pop Culture Box (Totally!)" You can see the full listing for it at this URL (it'll probably be split over two lines so you'll have to glue it ba together): http://www.cdnow.com/cgi-bin/mserver/SID=760758034/pagename=/RP/CDN/FIND /popsearch.html/clickID=tn_srch_txt Gary's contribution is, of course, "Cars", and he's credited as "Gary Newman" (but then "Numan, Gary" is listed as the songwriter - way to go, Rhino). Geez, I never thought you'd be able to buy both "Cars" and "Take Off!" (Bob & Doug McKenzie, with Geddy Lee from Rush) in the same box... / From the desk of Joey Lindstrom / / What this world needs more of is loving: sweaty, friendly and / unashamed. / -- Maureen Johnson, "To Sail Beyond The Sunset" / (Robert Heinlein) ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 21 Aug 2002 22:27:07 -0700 From: Rod Reynolds Subject: Re: Gary in not just another 80's compilation Heh. Well having worked at Rhino for the last five years, and having lived though and thoroughly enjoyed the 80's (all of them), and despite owning almost all the tracks already on cd, I could not resist this package. Plus it comes with a 3D plastic cover! The seven cds are in chronological order, and the box set comes with a huge book with a time line including music television and current events. And lots of photos. Reading along in the book and listening to the cds was a true trip through the 80's. Starting from Devo and the Buggles in 1980 through Eurythmics and Thomas Dolby in in 1984 right up to Rick Astley and the B-52's in 1989. And despite having such "strange" cuts as "Theme from the Greatest American Hero" and "General Hospi-Tale", "You Look Marvelous" by Billy Crystal, it was a good time. Queen, Blondie, Pete Townshend, Gary Numan, the Cars, Billy Squier, Billy Idol, Rick Springfield, 38 Special, Rick James,, Laura Branigan (love that song!), Hall & OAtes, Human League, ABC, Duran Duran, Men at Work, Joe Jackson, Golden Earring, Bonnie Tyler, Taco, Madness, Yes, Styx, Nena, Corey Hart, Shannon (love that song!), Tears for Fears, A-Ha, Simple Minds, Dead or Alive, Bangles, Bananarama, INXS and so on. Recommended. Rod Los Angeles > > This one, though, looks quite cool. It's by Rhino Records and it's a > 7-disc boxed set, entitled "Like, Omigod! Live at Brixton Academy Gary Numan Our Price: =A311.99 This item will be released on 14 October, 2002. Audio CD (18 November, 2002) Number of Discs: 9 Label: Eagle ASIN: B00006J9LL Catalogue Number: EAGBX241 This I would assume is the once mentioned live album remasters - White=20 Noise, Ghost, Dream Corrosion (the one that needed remastering the most)=20 and Dark Light, probably along with the Brixton Academy disc. Now all we need is the Extended albums to be remastered :-) Then all Gary's albums can be released on SACD, then DVD Audio so we can=20 all buy them umpteen times again. Oh Joy.
