Anderson" Subject: B-Sides Anyone? Well, seeing as the list has been silent for the past few days, I think its fair to start a B-Sides poll. I won't bother quibbling over what's a B-Side, or if collaborations count. I suppose mirroring the format of the singles poll, i.e. listing your top 5, should work nicely. So here are my top 5 B-Sides: 1."Exhibition"-This also happens to be my all time favorite Numan track, just barely leading "Slow Car to China". 2."The Image Is" - I like this song a lot because it seems to be more like a track from "Dance" than a B-Side from "I, Assassin". Its got all the atmospheric elements I loved from "Dance", that "I, Assassin" departed from. Very nice synth programming on this one... 3."We Take Mystery(To Bed)early version- Now in this case, essentially it is a song from "Dance". The saxophone is gorgeous. 4."Asylum"- This is actually the track that really introduced me to Numan and coerced me to buy my first Nu-Albums. Quick story...I was looking around a record shop for random music and came upon the UK release "Cars" single. I sortof chuckled a bit remembering the song vaguely from years ago. So I decided to snatch it up. When I got home, I put it on the platter and then all of a sudden this sci-fi-ish/horror film music came blasting through the speakers. This didn't sound like "Cars"?! Quickly realizing I put the B-Side on by mistake, I sat back in stunned silence. This was actually damned good! Before I could even put "Cars" on I was out the door, back to the record shop. I grabbed an original vinyl copy of both Replicas and The Pleasure Principle, along with the cd remaster for TPP. I've been obsessively hooked since... 5."Noise, Noise"-It should have made the album...it could have been the ninth song! -Mark V.
