Going back I can say that I tend to like the b-sides a lot. So here we go: 1) We are so Fragile 2) Poetry and Power 3) We Have a Technical 4) Trois Gymnopedies 5) I Sing Rain Michael Proudly using OS/2 since 1992. Is there a simple source to get them, I wonder? I dropped out of the Numan scene shortly after I Assassin (I think) and only got back in for Exile/Pure, so I missed pretty much everything in between. Having heard the stories of M& S, etc., I don't think I missed much (I much prefer Gary's punk/new wave/Industrial stuff) -- but now looking at this list, I think I may need to re-acquaint myself somewhat. Anyway, my top five would be (all pretty much from the period when I discovered Numan): On Broadway (I just find the synth mesmerizing) Trois Gymnopedies We Are So Fragile Do You Need The Service Asylum I haven't heard Gary's Poetry and Power, but if it is like the version off Random, then I would put that in at number five. If the piano version of DITH was allowed, I would place that second and push the others down accordingly. -Stuart ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 06 Sep 2002 08:54:53 -0400 From: Micromuzak@aol.com Subject: Poll Rarely chime in on the polls but here are my responses: 1. Image Is 2. My Car Slides 1 3. She Cries 4. Face To Face 5. The Fear On a different note, PURE (2000) sounded much like Nine Inch Nails circa 1994 and Marilyn Manson circa 1998. Do you think Gary's next record will sound different from PURE or merely an extension? The period of whispering lyrics and shouting the chorus is kind of past isn't it? Who do you think he will model his sound design around this time? Thanks to Ben or providing the 'valid' list! While I'm on here, I thought that the computer generated stuff that Sean put on from Gary's lyrics was quite unusual. Don't quite know why I enjoyed it, but thanks Sean! And... I don't see why the piano version of DITP shouldn't be counted. Wasn't it the B-side to Complex? Quite nice actually!
