Nicholson / Numan , what a load of rubbish, it has 14 tracks on it but, it is all Radio Heart stuff ,  Demo, Radio Mix, Extended Mix , Same with London Times and Like a Refugee. i have allways been mad about Gary and i have supported him for twenty years + but, this i feel is very , very poor. Look at that CD again.....it's not released by any of Gary's current or recently affiliated labels, but, as far as I can tell, Nicholson's own label.  Gary isn't making a cent off sales of that CD I'm pretty sure :(

------=_NextPart_000_000B_01C25A2A.E3F97D20-- ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 12 Sep 2002 17:07:06 -0500 From: "Mark V. Anderson" Subject: frivilous predictions about new album I think with "Pure"'s good reviews and overall positive reaction, the outcome will be one of two possibilities. One, Gary sees that imitation pays off! Hey, even Karrang and some American press paid attention to him. In this case, Gary will listen to a lot of goth rock that's happened over the past two years and try to copy it as much as possible. The new album will sound almost exactly like "Pure" with minor modifications to keep up with the times and to avoid self-plagiarism. In this case, he figures with proper promotion and a good record deal in North America he might be able to sell tons and tons of records. Hell, a video on MTV, or even *gasp* an appearence on TRL might be in store for him, right along side with Korn. The idyllic picture from this standpoint is quite intoxicating. Two, Gary sees that people are paying attention to him again. The next album will be reviewed in plenty of publications and now is his chance to pounce his true creative ideas on the masses. In this case he will value his artistic credibility over his chance at pop culture success, reasoning that he will never be on TRL. He has seen that he is not very good at imitation, and reasons that the album should be pure Gary. The songs will be more atmospheric than its predecessor. As he's said in recent interviews he wants to remove some of the "cliche guitar parts". I wouldn't expect a new version of "Slow Car to China" opening things off, but I think his personal aesthetic values a good deal of ambience. In this case, the ambience would be injected with a great deal of power. After lulling the listener into an eno-esque state of contemplative pretention, out come the synths blasting screeches and huge bass sounds. The chorusses reach through the speakers and attack the listener with lyrics about dead things and God. In total, the album will be a connected progression from "Pure" but will be a more intellectual run, with more timbral dynamics and complex arrangements. Maybe he'll even throw some new time signatures at us! (not that 4-4 isn't excellent, but some variety would be nice) Disclaimer: I like "Pure" a lot. The production alone is worth an award or two. The songs are greatly more complex than on "Exile" or "Sacrifice" and that's one reason why I see the second aforementioned possibility as accurrate. I wouldn't call "Pure' my favorite album, but I'm feeling positive the next one just might eek out "Dance". (PS- Somebody tell Gary I want the next album available on vinyl! Even if it has to be a limited edition set, it must be done! Oh and one more thing. I want a good clear picture of Gary on the cover of the next one.) _________________________________________________________________ Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com ------------------------------ End digest@garynuman.info Digest [09/12/2002 18:01] --------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------- T H E G A R Y N U M A N D I G E S T is produced, moderated, and distributed by Derek Langsford, Dave Datta, and Joey Lindstrom dlangs@sunstroke.sdsu.edu, davdat@allmusic.com, Joey@GaryNuman.Info Back Issues: http://digest.garynuman.info ------------------------------------------------------------------- To reply to the messages in this list, email: digest@garynuman.info If you want to be removed, or someone wants to be added, email: listserv@GaryNuman.info and include this line as the first line of your message body: SUBSCRIBE digest@garynuman.info (email address) or UNSUBSCRIBE digest@garynuman.info (email address) (email address is optional but useful if you have multiple addresses) If you want to switch between receiving Digests or individual posts, again send to listserv@GaryNuman.Info and include either of these in your message body: NORMAL digest@garynuman.info or DIGEST digest@garynuman.info ------------------------------------------------------------------ Please note: this mailing list is configured to automatically unsubscribe you if mail to your mailbox goes undeliverable for any reason.
