Not liking Gary I think it is perfectly possible to like someone's music without liking the person. But I also think (for someone like me) that it is impossible to say whether or not I "like" Gary without having met him. Certainly I like some aspects of his personality (e.g. his obvious dislike of religion, his disrespect for politicians, his belief that we are all morally obliged to make the best out of lives and not just take every hand-out going), but there are other areas where we disagree: I love soccer, I'm not as interested in planes/fast cars/motorbikes as he is (I like planes and cars, just not as much!). The whole point I'm getting to is that the common bond that we HAVE is his music. This is the meeting point between him and I. Because I have a varied taste in music I love the electronic stuff, the pop/funk stuff is OK (I like Prince) and so is the goth stuff (I could happily play Sacrifice before or after Sisters of Mercy, for example). But the nu-metal stuff is patchy for me, and where I feel albums like Replicas and Telekon were and still are unique, all I have to do is listen to Kerrang! TV or MTV2 and I hear tons of stuff that could have been out-takes from Pure. It is disappointing to realise that I like some of Gary's stuff more than he does and more so if I think that the next album is simply going to be Pure 2.
