I happened upon it while in Best Buy this afternoon and almost died right there. Decided I at least had to hear it once before moving on the the Great Numan Disco in the sky, so decided to hold on, at least for the evening. Cancelled plans for a movie and came straight home. (In case anyone was questioning my Numan fandom after my last few posts ;o) DVD Audio has become my latest obsession (well, that and Colin Farrell, but that's another list). I was blown away by the DVD Audio cd of Fleetwood Mac's Rumours, and now have managed to collect about 30 of the discs (are they cds? are they DVDs?) (they are both, sort of, although they play in DVD players only). The Eagles "Hotel California" has been my favorite for the last few days, also Sting's "Nothing Like The Sun". Metallica's 'black album" is also amazing on 5.1. Also, Queen's "Night at the Opera" as one might expect, really comes alive in 5.1 surround sound. Anyway, as you can tell, mostly "classics" or "classic rock" albums have been released, although the first Crowded House album is out, and Queensryche's "Empire" (both on my "to get" list). But to find a Gary Numan DVD Audio was a complete thrill. The artwork and design (including the visual stills that accompany the music) is similar to (or actually from) the recent 3 CD UK Box Set "Disconnection", done by the same person (hugh@ gilmor design in the UK) (curse him! - ed.) Track listing: Berserker My Dying Machine The Hunter This Disease My Breathing The Sleep Room In a Glass House I Die You Die (live) Me I Disconnect from You (live) Cars (live) Are Friends Electric (live) Not the best track list in the world. I'm not a fan of live material, listened to the first few seconds of each live track, I'm sure they're the Numa era live recordings. A little side by side comparison would confirm that. (Copyright 1992 on those four tracks it says, so there's a clue, not necessarily accurate though) Happy to get one of my favorite all time Numan tracks "My Breathing" which is particularly suited for surround sound experience. And sounds brilliant, as expected. An aural event. (Hmmm - ed.) And The Sleep Room which is a great track from "Strange Charm", the 'vamp' of which is still thrilling to me after all this time. I also like the singles from Berserker, of course, but the rest seem completely random. If had been in charge, I'd at least have done the singles. (Doesn't that make more sense?) Well, it's a start. Three great songs, a handful of second rans, plus the four requisite Numan "classics", albeit live cause they obviously couldn't get the masters from Beggars Banquet. Still, a great buy at $14.99!! After his release of "Always" i took the long forgotten Purified album off the shelf and gave it a listen. There ist more to listen to (and use as material), than just the Q & A game. (I myself thought, it would be fun, to have Gary just count 1 to 50 to a drumbeat, but a am no expert in doing things like Troy does (hint hint!) - i would name it "1"). I wonder if Gary likes the Interpretations of his bits. OR (big OR) do people like Troys "new" songs, because we really really long for new originals... (that does not mean to minor Troys work! - but its a fair Question considering another 3 Years gap between 2 albums) Any Comments? Jim "The Machman" Napier here with a report from the road (albeit the left side of the road). The 3 shows here in England are now over. Glasgow was very fun. Instead of shouting "GARY GARY", they shouted "GADY GADY". The Scottish people were only friendly. Liverpool was sold out long before the others were. Only a thousand folks there. I met some parents who brought a 4 year old who brought a love letter to Gary to throw on stage. Last night in London was one of the best Numan shows I'd ever seen. 19 tracks of only bliss. Gary aggressively snarled his songs through nearly two hours that seemed like 15 minutes. Look for over 75 pic from the show on the NAGNFC as well as 3 new Riveting Chapters upon my return in October. 'Til then, I'm..... This isn't a forum for theological debates as to who is in tune with "God" or otherwise. Each of us is on a path of discovery...some choose music as the medium, catalyst, and vehicle for transportation into spirituality. Accept him for who he is and just enjoy the music. Keep your condescending bullshit to yourself. ...and now for something completely on topic...Does anyone have Gary performing "Praying To The Aliens" on SNL in NTSC format. ;-) Sincerely, Kevin > I like Gary. He is a complex person, like many > others. I don't agree with him on religion - I think > he has a poorly developed sense of what religion > is, and what God might be. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 22 Sep 2002 22:46:51 +0000 From: "Mark Darmofal" Subject: Gary Numan and Little Debbie

So I'm waiting for my TW's at the Keystone Deli where on the TV above is a Little Debbie commercial featuring 'Cars' with Gary's vocals.

It showed people running in and out of cars with Little Debbie treats.
