As per my last message, I think we're on "hold" for the moment, but yes, under the rules I made up out of thin air, these would qualify. They all use Numan's music but are released under another artist's name (and, in these particular cases, under completely different titles as well). I was rather surprised on Saturday night when I went down to the Olympic Saddledome in downtown Calgary to watch the Philadelphia Flyers take on the Calgary Flames. (For you unenlighted folk, that's professional ice hockey, heh heh!) Anyways, here in the land of country music, I was delighted when, about ten minutes into the first period, during a brief stoppage of play (on an "icing" call), the loudspeaker began belting out "Where's Your Head At?" So now Numan has two songs bein' played here - "Cars" pops up every now and then too. :-) >Date: Mon, 14 Oct 2002 20:32:02 -0500 >From: "Mark V. If only it was possile to legitamately release such a full >representation of Gary's output throughout the years. I consider myself blessed for having had exactly that opportunity. I pick up my copy of "Dark Wonders" and look at it, and still get chills. It really is as cool as I thought it would be. :-) >Date: Tue, 15 Oct 2002 12:51:57 +0200 >From: "Mike & Kelly Moore" >Subject: Covers & Collaborations poll > >"You pointed out the biggest flaw of this poll, and that is: many folks >haven't HEARD a lot of this material." > >Joey's absolutely correct. What would REALLY be great would be if someone >could load up a web site with these covers as MP3's or similar files, then >we could listen and vote for the ones like. Someone out there willing to >accept this challenge? If I had the time I would, but that's one *HELL* of a lot of songs. Besides, we'd run the risk of running afoul of the copyright police unless we limited the songs to around, say, 30 seconds each - and that would rather defeat the purpose. I was thinking that people could vote for the ones they KNOW, and then when the top-forty is produced, finally hear some of the ones they don't know. >Date: Tue, 15 Oct 2002 17:36:16 +0100 >From: dryad >Subject: re: Covers and Collaborations > >Joey said: > >What about a poll ranking the tribute ALBUMS from most to least >favorite? > >Whaddaya think? > >In the words of the chemical vat melty guy from Robocop, I like it!
