We had to make an emergency landing in Seattle and evacuate the plane on the inflatable slides. Before we could land, we had to circle for several minutes while the pilots dumped the fuel. For those terrifying minutes, with the possibility of death hanging close by, what was going thru my head was- you guessed it- the lyrics to "My Centurion." \/ __ __ _\_ --Sean Crist (kurisuto@unagi.cis.upenn.edu) --- | | \ / http://www.ling.upenn.edu/~kurisuto/ _| ,| ,| ----- _| ,| ,| [_] | | | [_] ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 23 Oct 2002 21:51:33 -0500 From: "Mark V. During his second around the world attempt, his plane sputtered out somewhere above the arctic circle. (the following lyrics are entirely from memory and probably wrong, but you'll get the idea "My Centurion dies.....This machine, no sign of life, only the whisper of air...she won't turn, she won't climb, she won't stop, she won't fly..im falling, im silent, im thinking, im waiting for this..thing, to end.....all I can do now is wait for the noise..."etc...etc.. The song title itself comes from the plane model. He was flying a Cessna Centurion..therefore the title refers to the plane itself. -Mark V. Anderson (btw Andy, good choice as a favorite song...that guitar is amzaing!..I wish there was an extended cut out there.) _________________________________________________________________ Protect your PC - get McAfee.com VirusScan Online http://clinic.mcafee.com/clinic/ibuy/campaign.asp?cid=3963 ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 24 Oct 2002 08:14:43 +0000 From: "Ian Blair" Subject: If you get lost... ask a Centurion.
