Unlike the >UK, Cars has never been reissued in the USA in any form. Maybe it should be. Well, there was the Fear Factory cover back in 1999 which was very successful. :-) In other sightings here in Calgary: 1) I was watching (satellite) TV the other day and was watching a local TV channel, can't remember which one, and they ran an ad for "Rimmel London", some sort of cosmetics manufacturer I'd never heard of before (www.rimmellondon.com). It was clearly a British ad - the announcer had a British accent and the scenery was London. The background music throughout was The Sugababes' "Freak Like Me", which we all know is based on Are 'Friends' Electric. 2) I'm a season ticket holder for the Calgary Flames (ice) hockey club, and I've been to about 8 or 9 games so far this year. Often, in response to on-ice events, the stadium PA system will play certain songs as appropriate. For example, if the other team scores, you might hear the Beatles singing "Life Goes On", or when the Flames score, you'll hear "That's the way... uh huh, uh huh, I like it... uh huh, uh huh", etc. Anyways, they've added a new wrinkle this year. If the referee makes a bad call that goes against the Flames, you might hear Basement Jaxx with "Where's Your Head At?" (which we all know is based on "M.E.") / From the desk of Joey Lindstrom / / "Without deviation [from the norm], `progress' is not possible." / --Frank Zappa ------------------------------ End digest@garynuman.info Digest [11/11/2002 18:01] --------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------- T H E G A R Y N U M A N D I G E S T is produced, moderated, and distributed by Derek Langsford, Dave Datta, and Joey Lindstrom dlangs@sunstroke.sdsu.edu, davdat@allmusic.com, Joey@GaryNuman.Info Back Issues: http://digest.garynuman.info ------------------------------------------------------------------- To reply to the messages in this list, email: digest@garynuman.info If you want to be removed, or someone wants to be added, email: listserv@GaryNuman.info and include this line as the first line of your message body: SUBSCRIBE digest@garynuman.info (email address) or UNSUBSCRIBE digest@garynuman.info (email address) (email address is optional but useful if you have multiple addresses) If you want to switch between receiving Digests or individual posts, again send to listserv@GaryNuman.Info and include either of these in your message body: NORMAL digest@garynuman.info or DIGEST digest@garynuman.info ------------------------------------------------------------------ Please note: this mailing list is configured to automatically unsubscribe you if mail to your mailbox goes undeliverable for any reason.
