Ancients (Numan & Andy Gray) - I like this one a lot, i'd really like it if Gray co-produced Numan's next album instead of Sulpher, it would likely be more melodic than heavy. The lyrics for this song are still the sort of boring "die in god's name blah blah blah" but then again Numan wrote the lyrics in a couple of hours so i don't mind too much. 2. Crazier (Rico w/ Numan on vocals; final mix by Andy Gray) - this one's nice as well. I've only heard one other Rico song and this one is pretty much in the same vein. Sounds cool. 3. Hybrid (Numan & Sulpher; remix of Pure) - This one i don't know about, i'd have to hear the whole thing to be sure whether i like it or not. Sounds a little sparse. 4. Absolution (Andy Gray remix) - excellent sounding version. Very true to the original while updating it. I never was a big fan of the original but i have a feeling i'll like this song. 5. Rip (Andy Gray remix) - This one sounds good and fairly exciting when it gets to the chorus. 6. Dark (Andy Gray remix) - clip cuts off before the chorus, so it's hard to judge this mix of one of my favorite songs. But on what i hear it sounds great when there's vocals, otherwise a lot of filler. 7. Everyday I Die (Andy Gray remix) - Sounds decent, i'd rather have a pseudo-dancy type song mixed by Gray though, like We Are Glass. 8. Are 'Friends' Electric? (Andy Gray remix) - Different than other AFE? mixes i've heard, but as with EID, I would rather have had Gray remix a different song. 9. Down in the Park (Curve remix) - from the clip it sounds decent but nothing special. 10. Me! I Disconnect from You (Alan Moulder remix featuring Toni Holliday from Curve) - Down tempo in the clip, i wonder if it speeds up (i hope so). Don't hear any of Toni's voice in the clip, on the Curve site she wrote that she did some singing for Moulder's remix). All in all i'm pleased with what i hear, the new stuff being the most exciting, with Rip and Dark coming in close behind. __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Some will Oooo...my impressions (of necessarily short and poor samples): Hybrid: holy electronica, Batman! Reminds me of Blade Runner, the movie, even though it sounds nothing remotely like Vangelis. Freakin' awesome. AFE: vaguely reminiscent of both The Mix and Random [1] cd's, kind of a combination of Orb's remix of Jo the Waiter and Moloko's AFE. But different. Absolution: somewhat An Pierle'd, with additional piano and different percussion? Mellow. Crazier: Hmm. Sparse, then very garage-y. More whispery vocals. DitP: Didn't think it was possible to make this song 'upbeat'. Guess I was wrong. Which isn't to say I don't like it. Has something of I Dream of Wires in it. Dark: Me likee. Me likee a lot. A great song stripped and rebuilt. Me! I Disconnect From you: Twangy guitar, nice synth, slower than the original. Ancients: don't know what to think about this one...sounds...normal. Everyday I Die: New vocal? This is one of my favorite songs, but again, I'm not sure what to think about it. Very sparse. RIP: I like the...stuttering and percussion very much, and the changed vocals rock. Overall impressions - can't wait to get my fingers on this cd!
